South African former striker Benni McCarthy has passed away this afternoon in London after shortness, Reuters can confirm.
McCarthy has earlier on complained of stomachache and was rushed to the London Community Hospital in the morning, family told the media.
According to Dr. Richard Cameron, the South African legend was rushed in, in a complete state of helplessness.
The cause of his death is not immediately known as the body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy.
McCarthy has played for Seven Stars, Ajax, Celta Vigo, Blackburn Rovers, West Ham and was last contacted to Orlando Pirates in South Africa.
McCarthy held the record of international goals for a South African and the Bafana Bafana’s all-time top scorer with 32 goals.
