The inferno occurred in a slump community of Kisseman, a suburb of Achimota in Accra.
The Ghana National Fire Service is yet to confirm exact cause of the disaster. Meanwhile, available information has it that parents of the burnt baby forgot put off fire of a their gas cylinder after cooking. In addition, they left a flaming candle on while the baby lay asleep in the same room. The couple, per the unconfirmed information, were asleep outside of the room.
Almost everyone at the scene blamed the said couple for an act of negligence that has caused the life of their baby and other peopleโs belongings.
Recounting their loss, a section of affected dwellers mentioned thousands of Ghana Cedis. A lady said aside some GHC3,000.00., she had also saved GHC20.00. a day in the past six years, and has lost all that to the fire. A youngman also said GHC200,000.00. of his got burnt.
While they try to withstand the nightmare, the victims wept over where to lay their head in subsequent nights.
Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service have since been at the scene providing obvious duties and have assured vigorous investigation into their occurrence.
