The Bawjiase District of The Apostolic Church-Ghana, has held a stylish Heritage Week that was aimed at bridging the gap between Christianity and custom.
The day saw attendants glad in Ghanaian traditional wear based on where one hails or preference.

Motive:
There continue to be a long-standing misconception among the various religious sects. A situation known to impose some form of disparity on the parties. This is what pushed the Bawjiase district pastor of the church, Daniel K. Mensah to propose the event that brought many from diverse cultural and religious background to share the practice and/or beliefs with one another.

In a word of exhortation, the Agona Swedru Area Superintendent of the denomination, Apostle William S. Damtiar noted every group of people(tribe) is leader by dignified individuals. Such individuals are with less or without blemish in that not only are they respected by their immediate subjects, but among other territories also.
Just as they command respect and authority in their respective tribes, so do they stand useful in the House of God. This, Apostle Damtiar said presents a common goal for both religion and the cultural setup. There’s there no further grounds for discrimination, rather, a necessity to understand the values of each other for serene society.

A scholar of Awutu custom, James Kwaku Mbir rejuvenated the spirit of the mammoth gathering made up of members of The Apostolic Church-Ghana, Local Council of Churches, Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, chiefs, etc. when he linked what is termed as First Fruit in Christianity to Yam Festival of the Awutu people and many more tribes, not only in Ghana but elsewhere Africa. Mr. Mbir again revealed a resemblance of the biblical trinity to the three leaders who led the Awutu people to migrate from ancient Israel to their current settlement. Their Dode, Shiapa and Preh just as Christianity has God the father, God the son and God the holy spirit.

Another exciting moment was went the Gyaasehen of Awutu Bawjiase, Nai Kwame Kurabi Opeikuma IV mounted the podium to dive in the scriptures. He made references to when prophets and kings ruled and payment of tax for the course of the nations in the old testament of the bible and linked same to new testament.
He preached along the lines of offering oneself as a living testimony. A synario of which Nai Kurabi see no different from one dedicating themselves for Christ and also community service.

Chief of Awutu Bawjiase, Nai Kwaku Osardu Otabil IV used the occasion to preach unity and development to make the community a desired one. Being his first ever public even to attend after his outdoor some two weeks earlier, Nai Osardu remarked the Heritage Week as historical and showed his heartfelt blessings for The Apostolic Church-Ghana, Bawjiase district arm and the countless denomination who have similar programs for peaceful co-existence.

In a tv interview thereafter, district secretary of the church, Elder Ransford Kofi Antwi made known that the Heritage Week has come to stay as an annual event with youth centered activities that way, sustainance is assured.
On behalf of the district pastor and presbytery, he expressed appreciation for all and sundry for making the program a success.

The weeklong event was steered by the Elder John Amoh led planning committee.
