NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has criticized the administration of former President John Mahama, contrasting it with the current NPP government’s achievements.
Addressing supporters in the Northern Region on November 21, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the contrast between chalk shortages in schools during Mahama’s tenure and the NPP’s provision of laptops and tablets to students and teachers.
“In his time, there was no chalk in schools. We are buying tablets for school children. Every child will get one. No one will be left out. We are even buying laptops for teachers from Kindergarten to SHS,” he stated.
Dr. Bawumia urged voters to choose the NPP’s vision of progress in the 2024 elections, describing himself as the candidate capable of delivering transformation.
NPP Flagbearer Tours Northern Constituencies
Dr. Bawumia has begun visiting constituencies across the country to consolidate support for the NPP ahead of the 2024 elections. While he has already toured all 16 regions, he is now focusing on areas yet to be reached.
During a visit to the Tolon, Kumbungu, and Tamale South constituencies, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the party’s gains, particularly in Kumbungu, where NPP support has grown from 15.2% in 2016 to 40.8% in 2020.
He also commissioned a mosque in Tolon, which is represented by NPP MP Habib Iddrisu. However, Tamale South, the stronghold of NDC’s Haruna Iddrisu, remains firmly under NDC control.
