Richard Ahiagbah, the Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has commended Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his leadership in guiding Ghana’s economy through challenging times. Ahiagbah described the Vice President’s performance as “stellar and exceptional” during an interview on The Big Issue on Channel One TV, held on Saturday, November 23.
Economic Management and Recovery
Ahiagbah praised Dr. Bawumia’s role as the head of the Economic Management Team, noting that his leadership was crucial in steering the nation towards economic stability amid various crises. He emphasized that Bawumia’s strategic decisions have been pivotal in ensuring a steady economic recovery, especially in light of external challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Positive Economic Indicators
According to Ahiagbah, the economy has been on an upward trajectory since 2023, with an average performance growth of 5.8%. He believes this steady rise is a testament to Bawumia’s effective economic management. He also highlighted that the Vice President’s policies prevented a potential economic collapse during the pandemic, helping Ghana to avoid a deeper crisis.
Acknowledging COVID-19’s Impact
Ahiagbah acknowledged the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on Ghana’s economy but credited Dr. Bawumia for mitigating its effects. He argued that without the pandemic, Ghana’s economy would have seen greater expansion, leading to more job creation and overall economic growth.
