Until recently, the Alto (Villagio Vistas), located at the Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout had been Ghana’s tallest building. Standing about 92metre high, the porch structure was erected some one and a half decades ago.
On Wednesday, 19th November, 2024, the president, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commissioned The Bank Square directly opposite the Greater Accra Regional Hospital at Ridge in the capital city of Accra as the Central Bank’s new headquarters.

For the past 67 years, Bank of Ghana(BoG) had been managing its James Town main office with an extension at the Cedi House(also a renowned landmark in tallest buildings) in the country.
At 100 meters tall, The Bank Square has unseated the Alto to that record.
