Security analyst and director of Jatikay Security, Adid Saani has described a skeptical, the Electoral Commission(EC’s) denial of accreditation for Civil Society Organizations(CSOs) to enable them play an observatory role in the December elections.
The EC in a reply letter to Jatikay Security said “the commission is unable to accept your application at this time.” In an interview with MBN TV, the EC failed to give details to why it was denied accreditation. He seem to find it unfortunate in a democratic community such as Ghana.

Elsewhere aside MBN TV, Mr. Saani continue to argue that the commission could have simply pinpointed a few factors that’ll contribute to the denial.
According the security analyst, not only is the Electoral Commission’s action unfair to CSOs, it also put a strain on the country’s democracy in that stakeholders would hardly have a say regarding the 2024 general elections.
He went further to outline a few benefits that’s derived from election observers, saying, they’re able to identify both good and bad deeds which helps them contribute their quota in educating the general public. Again, the role they play also help the decision makers in subsequent events.
