Language and Communication Practitioner cum Discourse Analyst, Ohene Kwateng Afari has stressed that in Ghanaian cultural values, Dela Edem, an aid to John Dramani Mahama has done the unspeakable by the manner he spoke about the persona of former president John Agyekum Kuffour. He tells MBN TV there’s no problems criticizing anybody’s work regardless their age yet the manner in which Mr. Edem attacked the 86 year old ex-president must not be of a Ghanaian.
He used the opportunity to applaud flag bearers of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) and National Democratic Congress(NDC) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and John Dramani Dramani respectively for basing their 2024 general election campaign on issues rather than hate speech. Thought everything may not accurate, the discourse analyst said the two gentlemen continue to comport themselves.
The discourse analyst pleaded with the NPP to accept the apology as rendered by the NDC for sanity to prevail.
Background
The NDC stalwart, Dela Edem on an Accra based TV XYZ, opened a verbal attack on J. A. Kuffour saying the weaker performance of the Ghanaian Cedi against major currencies should be blamed on H. E. John Agyekum Kuffour who in 2007, quashed four zeros off the local currency. According to Dela, that initiative affected the local currency badly such that today, it’s struggle to compete in global markets.

Dela also said to be seen using a wheelchair means Mr. Kuffour is paying for some evil deeds during his tenure of office as President of the Republic.
