Member of Parliament(MP) for Prampram, Samuel Nartey George has led faith based organizations in presenting a petition to the Chief Justice(CJ) demanding her to expedite operations to ensure the Promotion of Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill was passed into full law. The bill that was passed by parliament on 28th February, 2024, is yet to be signed by president of the Republic, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to make it a legal working document.
An arm of the clergy, Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council(GPCC) was fortunate to gain the leadership of the legislator in marching some major streets of the capital city, Accra, to call on the government to do the needful in preserving the nation’s cultural heritage which also coincide with available religious beliefs. To many the bill need passed into law to help sanitize the Ghanaian society of any form of homosexuality and it’s related activities.
The caravan of demonstrators caused vehicular traffic as they gained massive support to add up the numbers. At every traffic light spot, the demonstrating crowd sat in the middle of the road making motorists change routes due to the delays caused.
Although the protest was organized by the GPCC, it got traditional rulers led by Nuumo Gbelenfo of the Ga Traditional Council and queen mothers, Muslim community led by a representative of the National Chief Imam, Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana, and a host of other nationals converging at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle on Tuesday, 8/10/2024, before embarking on the march finishing around the Supreme Court where they presented the petition.

Among the contents of the petition is a two week timeline for the CJ to work in ensuring passage of the bill into law was successful.
Hon. Sam George reminded the Chief Justice of her own mandate as a Christian and obvious preacher of the gospel to help champion a good course. Failure to do so may interpret otherwise of her, he said in an earlier speech.
