Fifteen supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were granted bail by the Osino District Court in the Eastern Region after their arrest over an arson attack on an Electoral Commission (EC) office.
The incident occurred on December 10, 2024, in Asuboi, Ayensuano Constituency, during a protest by a group calling itself Ayensuano Concerned Youth. The demonstration followed the declaration of Ida Adwoa Asiedu as the Member of Parliament-elect for the constituency, leading to the EC office being set ablaze.
The suspects, charged with arson, were granted bail of GH₵20,000 each with one surety. They are to reappear in court on January 14, 2025.

Despite objections from the prosecution, His Worship Salifu Bugri Ayagiba approved the bail, citing assurances from the defense counsel that the suspects, described as respected community members, would cooperate with investigations. The prosecution had expressed concerns about potential interference in the ongoing investigation.
The court’s decision underscores the principle of granting bail when there is reasonable assurance of compliance with legal processes.
