The Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council has reported significant achievements under the government’s District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP), with approximately 80 kilometres of roads improved across five district assemblies.
Launched in July 2024, the DRIP initiative aims to equip Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with resources to rehabilitate and maintain local road networks, enhancing accessibility and connectivity.
Key Areas of Improvement:
- Weija-Gbawe (Ga South): 26 kilometres of road improvements.
- Ga West: 18 kilometres completed.
- Ga North: 12 kilometres upgraded.
- Other Areas: Additional roads in communities such as Awoshie, Sowutuom, Amasaman, and Old Barrier.
During a site inspection, Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey, Regional Coordinator of the DRIP project, expressed satisfaction with the progress. “In just three to four months, DRIP has delivered nearly 80 kilometres of rehabilitated roads, transforming previously unmotorable and inaccessible routes,” he remarked.
