A doctor attempted to kill his wife while they were hiking in Hawaii, first by trying to push her off the trail and then by hitting her in the head with a rock, officials said Tuesday.
Officers found Gerhardt Konig, a physician, near Pali Highway and “arrested him after a brief foot pursuit,” Honolulu police said in statement.

Konig and his wife were hiking on Monday morning, “when he attempted to push her off a hiking trail and struck her in the head with a rock,” police added.
She was rushed to a hospital where she was listed in critical condition.
As of Tuesday morning, Konig still had his licenses to practice medicine in Hawaii.
He appears to be a relatively new resident to America’s 50th state, with his original license only dating back to Sept. 27, 2022.
