Police investigating the Heathrow Airport fire have issued a major update after thousands of travellers were hit by travel chaos at the busy airport.
The Met Police have announced that they are no longer treating the blaze as a “potentially criminal matter.” The nightmare blaze erupted at Hayes electricity substation on Thursday evening – which had a knock on effect at Heathrow the following day.

More than 200,000 holidaymakers were left with cancellations or re-routed journeys after the incident. Officials had to close the airport for the entire day after a fire caused a power outage.
In a statement, Met Police said: “The Metâs Counter Terrorism Command has been working with partners to establish the cause of the fire at the electricity sub-station in Hayes last week.
“Following enquiries to date, officers have found no evidence to suggest that the incident was suspicious in nature.
“As such, we are no longer treating this as a potentially criminal matter, although we continue to support other partners, including colleagues from National Grid, London Fire Brigade and SSEN, with whom we remain in close contact.
“Should any relevant new information or evidence come to light it will be looked at and considered as appropriate.”
