The mother of Jason and Travis Kelce has become a household name in her own right, especially after witnessing her two sons face off against each other in Super Bowl LVII. However, in the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, the Kelce brothers uncovered a surprising confession from their mother that left them both laughing-and a little shocked.
During the conversation, Donna Kelce opened up about her hopes and challenges while building her family. As she reminisced about the time before Travis was born, she admitted something that caught her sons off guard.
“I will say, yes, I was hoping for a girl,” she revealed. But before Travis could react, she quickly added with a playful jab, “but I got one. He’s a fashionista… And a dancer.”
Jason immediately burst into laughter, reveling in his mom’s lighthearted teasing of his younger brother. Meanwhile, Travis, who has become known for his stylish outfits and viral dance moves, took the joke in stride.
But Donna wasn’t done yet. She went on to reveal an even bigger family secret-one that Travis’ father might not be too thrilled about.
While discussing the origins of their names, Donna dropped another bombshell.
“There was another Travis on a soap opera during the day,” she said. “Oh my god, he was the most gorgeous man in the whole world, and I named you after him.”
Jason, who was still trying to process what he had just heard, couldn’t contain his disbelief.
“That’s so terrible. How could you do that?” he jokingly asked.
Travis, for his part, seemed equally amused and slightly taken aback. It turns out that for years, the Kelce brothers believed their parents had chosen their names based on deep sentimental reasons-only to find out that a soap opera heartthrob had played a major role in the decision.
To make matters worse (or funnier), Donna seemed to realize mid-sentence that she had just admitted to lying to her husband about the name’s true origins. Jason made sure to highlight this hilarious slip-up, warning her that their dad might not take the news too well if he ever tunes in to the podcast.
Beyond the laughter and lighthearted teasing, Donna also took a moment to reflect on her sons’ journey to NFL stardom. She recalled how much uncertainty surrounded their football careers when they were just starting out.
“Jason was the first one, and I know that that was very taxing,” she said. “We were all hoping, so desperately, that he was going to get drafted… It went on for days, and it was just one of those things that we didn’t know if it was going to happen.”
Despite the uncertainty, Donna never doubted that both of her boys had what it took to succeed.
“I knew you guys were talented. I knew you had the perseverance… It’s just that you don’t know how your children relate nationally,” she explained.
She also made it clear that talent alone isn’t enough, reminding them that “there’s a lot of kids that are as talented as you are, sitting on the bench.”
That unwavering belief in their work ethic and drive to succeed has clearly paid off, with both Jason and Travis going on to achieve Hall of Fame-worthy careers in the NFL.
While Jason Kelce has retired and is enjoying the rewards of his hard work, Travis is gearing up for another NFL season. After a disappointing loss in Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is looking to redeem himself on the field.
