Wolves star Matheus Cunha has been handed an extra one-match ban on top of his three game suspension for kicking out at Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and headbutting him. The Brazilian has also been given a £50,000 fine for his antics during his side’s FA Cup fifth round defeat to the Cherries earlier this month.
Cunha was handed a straight red following the moment of madness and initially banned for three matches, but this has now been upgraded to four games.

The news comes as a huge blow to Wolves and boss Vitor Pereira, who is attempting to stave off the threat of relegation to the Championship.
Cunha has already served two matches of his suspension – the 1-1 draw against Everton and the 2-1 win at Southampton. He will now sit out of a home clash against West Ham and a trip to Ipswich before returning for the visit of Tottenham on April 13.
An FA statement read: “An independent Regulatory Commission has imposed a one-match suspension and £50,000 fine on Matheus Cunha.
“The Wolverhampton Wanderers forward was charged with acting in an improper manner after he was sent off around the 121st minute of their FA Cup tie against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 1st March.
“The player subsequently admitted the charge. The Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a hearing, and its written reasons for them will be published in due course. Matheus Cunha will now be suspended from domestic football until Sunday 13th April.”
Cunha has been crucial for Wolves this season after bagging 13 goals in the Premier League and four assists, leading to interest from clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool.
However, he signed a new deal at the start of the year to end speculation over his future, with his contract now extended to 2029.
Club chairman Jeff Shi said: “Matheus has been on an amazing journey with us over the past two years and itâs been a privilege to see him grow into a big part of the Wolves family.”
Wolves’ sporting director Matt Hobbs added: “The new contract is a reward for what Matheus has done, and symbolises his importance to us on the pitch.
“Matheus loves the club, loves the fans and really appreciates the opportunity the club has given him.”
