A toddler was spotted wandering the streets alone wearing just a nappy and clutching a small ball – causing concerned members of the public to call the police.
Officers confirmed the youngster, believed to be around two or three years old, was found by a member of the public in the Pill Mill area of Newport, Wales, just before 7am. According to reports on social media, the child is non-verbal and had been found wearing only nappies whilst holding onto the toy.

Gwent Police said in an initial statement that the child was safe and in the company of officers while they spoke to his parents to establish what had happened, South Wales Argus reports.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report of a young boy being found by a member of the public in Newport at around 6.55am on Thursday 20 March. The child is currently safe with our officers while they speak with his parents to establish the circumstances.”
Gwent Police later confirmed they had identified no criminal offences, and that the child had been returned to his parents’ care.
