Samuel Atta Akyea, Lawyer for former Head of National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has disapproved of the prosecution of his client, describing the whole process as a travesty of justice.
The Accra High Court on Friday, May 2 ordered Adu-Boahene to be remanded into the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office for seven working days.

This is to enable the Attorney-General to complete the preparation of statements of the state’s witnesses.
Speaking to journalists in court, Atta Akyea accused the Attorney General of delaying the processes and being involved in “experimentation.”
He wondered why the A-G has not yet filed his witness statement and demanding more days from the court when his client was arrested since March 20, 2025.
He argued that the A-G has no evidence yet but has “rushed” his client to court, stating that this amounts to playing with the freedom of his client.
“I don’t want to eat a meal which is not cooked. I thought we should wait and then what they said in the prayers, we will never prosecute anybody unless we have all the evidence.
“This cancels their initial position. They don’t have the evidence but they rush the man to court and come and plead with the court for more time. That is a travesty of justice, playing with the liberty of the individual and doing experimentation,” he stated.
“This is a lottery of trial, that we should all look at it from the perspective of the razzmatazz and the theatrics. This is a very painful somersault for the Attorney General to say I want more time,” he lamented.
Responding to the A-G’s claim of not receiving his calls since Adu-Boahene’s case emerged, he stated that his decision is to avoid the potential of any communication being leaked and distorted.
“I am careful lest to have a conversation for somebody to say that I am trying to romance the A-G, there’s a precedence…somebody might even go and leak a tape saying Atta is hobnobbing with the A-G to have some advantages,” he asserted.
Former Director of the Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, his wife, and two others have been formally charged with a total of ten offenses, including stealing, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering.
