A 29-year-old Nigerian man identified as Joseph was subjected to severe beatings after allegedly breaking into a room to steal a clothes hanger and toilet roll at Kasoa, opposite Obaatanpa Radio, in the Awutu Senya East Municipality.

According to eyewitness reports, the incident occurred at around 5:00 a.m. on Monday when neighbours heard suspicious noises coming from a nearby room. Upon investigating, they discovered the suspect searching for valuable items inside the residence.
Eyewitnesses claim that they initially asked him to leave peacefully. However, as he exited, he allegedly took a clothes hanger and a roll of toilet paper and attempted to flee. This act angered the residents, who then apprehended and physically assaulted him, stripping him naked before handing him over to the police.
Speaking to the media, an eyewitness detailed how the event unfolded, describing the anger and frustration among the residents.
Meanwhile, the suspect, in an interview, attributed his actions to the influence of the devil and pleaded for forgiveness.
The police have since taken the suspect into custody for further investigation. Authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the matter.
