The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has said that the Mahama administration will not be able to manage the economy as expected.
He says the past records of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) show that they will not meet expectations.

Speaking to Joy News while reacting to the State of the Nation Address delivered by President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday, February 27, he said “They are going to make the management fo the economy about talking, we know them, they won’t do anything, they are just talking. His record shows he can’t manage the economy well.”
Also reacting to the SOAN, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin told President John Dramani Mahama to fix the challenges and stop the lamentations.
Afenyo-Markin notes that President Mahama’s 2025 State of the Nation Address delivered in Parliament on Thursday, February 27 was full of limitations.
“The president came to this house with the familiar story, the usual lamentations. s. He packaged it in a language as though we have a new beginning. Mr Speaker, if the president has any ci derns his duty is to fix it,” he said on the floor after President Mahama’s address.
President John Dramani Mahama said among other things that youth unemployment is the biggest challenge facing Ghana.
He notes that youth unemployment threatens national security. To that end, he said, he has set up the Ministry of Youth Development to address the concerns of youth unemployment.
He said “The youth unemployment has led to despair and frustration. This poses a major security risk to our country and requires urgent attention.”
In other matters, President Mahama urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and their Minority in Parliament not to boycott the upcoming national economic forum as they did during the Senchi Forum.
Delivering his maiden State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, February 27, he said he seeks to bring everyone on board to build the country.“I am confident that the sacrifice we have all made this year will benefit our county going into the future,” he said.
“Together we shall build the Ghana we all want,” he stressed.
The Mahamaa administration had announced the National Economic Dialogue, scheduled for March 3rd and 4th, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
This important gathering will offer a platform for Ghanaians to respond to the pressing economic challenges and forge actionable solutions to foster sustainable economic growth. President Mahama will lead the dialogue with a Keynote Address centred on “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together.”
This initiative represents a crucial step in fulfilling President Mahama’s campaign promise to involve citizens in discussions that shape their economic future. The dialogue will promote consensus and collaboration among participants regarding priority policies and structural reforms.
The outcomes of the forum are expected to begin the journey towards economic revitalisation, ultimately enhancing business opportunities and improving living conditions across the country. It will bring together key stakeholders from the private sector, academia, public policy institutions, and civil society organisations.
