The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned recent remarks by Dela Edem, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and an aide to former President John Mahama, targeting ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor.
In a viral video, Edem, speaking on TV XYZ, referred to Kufuor as “evil” and suggested that his use of a wheelchair was due to a curse. These comments have drawn backlash from the NPP, who labeled them “despicable, shameful, and disgraceful.”

Henry Nana Boakye, NPP’s National Organiser, issued a statement on November 16 expressing the party’s disapproval. The statement urged John Mahama to distance himself from Edem’s remarks and to take disciplinary action. They also called for a public apology to Mr. Kufuor from Mahama, condemning Edem’s statements as “unprovoked attacks” on a respected former leader.
The NPP highlighted Kufuor’s positive impact on Ghana, citing his policies during his presidency and his status as a respected global figure. The party emphasized that Edem’s comments were an affront to a statesman widely admired by Ghanaians.
