The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with the tragic death of Yabane Deladem Aku, a 21-year-old Level 400 Biological Science student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Aku was discovered unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory on campus in the early hours of February 27, 2025.

Medical personnel from KNUST Hospital arrived at the scene, but she was pronounced dead before her body was transported to the morgue for further examination.
A police examination of the body revealed signs of violence, raising suspicions of foul play. Following a detailed crime scene investigation, authorities arrested Daniel Tuffour, who is now in custody assisting with the ongoing investigation.
In response to the tragic incident, the Inspector-General of Police has met with Aku’s family to offer condolences and assure them of a thorough investigation. He also engaged the university community to discuss strengthening campus security measures to ensure student safety.
The police have assured the public of a comprehensive investigation to bring justice to the deceased and her family.
