Prez Akufo-Addo commissions Atafoa bridge

To solve the perennial flooding on the Atafoa bridge in Kumasi and it’s associated consequences to users, government has reconstructed it.

Commissioning the bridge, President Akufo-Addo says the intervention represents safety, accessibility, and opportunity.

Between 2022 and 2023, ten persons have lost their lives whilst attempting to cross the flooded Atafoa bridge.

The bridge links Kumasi to Offinso and the northern part of the country.

Several appeals by users for government to fix the deadly bridge has finally been responded to.

President Akufo-Addo has opened up the completed 40-metre reinforced concrete bridge for use.

Road and Highways minister, Francis Asenso-Boakye indicates that, the bridge and the accompanying road rehabilitation works are tangible examples of government commitment to delivering infrastructure that directly addresses the need of the people.

The Atafoa bridge, which has brought a huge relief to users, forms part of rehabilitation of the Abrepo junction – Barekese – Offinso road which commenced in April 2023.
