Roman Fada elected flag bearer for Akua Donkor’s GFP

Roman Fada, also known as Philip Kwabena Agyemang, has been officially appointed as the presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) in the upcoming 2024 elections ¹ ² ³. This development comes after the sudden passing of Akua Donkor, the party’s founder and previous candidate. Roman Fada, a well-known radio and TV personality associated with Accra-based Atinka FM, confirmed his candidacy in an interview on November 4.

According to Roman Fada, his nomination was a result of thorough discussions among the GFP’s leadership to ensure a seamless transition after Donkor’s death ¹. The party aimed to maintain stability and continuity through a careful and inclusive selection process. Roman Fada emphasized that this transition was necessary to uphold the party’s vision and position it for success despite the tragic loss of its leader.

As Akua Donkor’s running mate, Roman Fada gained valuable experience that prepared him well for the leadership position ¹. He reflected on this journey, saying, “I was the running mate for the 2024 election… so the party’s leadership deemed it right for me to replace her.”

Roman Fada’s appointment follows the Electoral Commission’s directive for the GFP to nominate a new candidate within ten days, pursuant to Article 40(4) ². With his nomination, Roman Fada is now set to lead the GFP in the 2024 elections.
