Seventy NDC Supporters Granted Bail After Arrests Post-Election

Seventy supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), arrested for various infractions following the December 7 elections, have been granted police enquiry bail. This follows a series of arrests after the polls, during which 123 individuals were detained, according to the Ghana Police Service.

Of those arrested, 49 suspects have been processed for court, with 16 granted bail. Another 33 individuals have been remanded in police and prison custody, awaiting further hearings.

The police have confirmed that four additional suspects were arrested within the last 24 hours in connection with recent attacks on government agencies and will be processed for court on Friday, December 13, 2024.

Providing an update on the situation, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Head of the Public Affairs Directorate, also addressed rumors regarding the alleged disappearance of Abraham Ato Annan, the NDC Vice Chairman for the Effutu Constituency.

The police confirmed the news was false, assuring the public that Mr. Annan is in good health and urged citizens to disregard the misinformation.
