According to the Chief of Staff, the move is to ensure transparency and integrity in the management of government payrolls.
The letter indicated that heads of institutions are required to submit the following details for each staff member added during the specified period:
•Full Name
•Designation/Job Title
•Employee Identification Number (if applicable)
•Date of Appointment
•Date Added to Payroll
Institutions have until January 31, 2025, to comply with this directive.
“This information is critical to maintaining transparency and accountability in our payroll management processes,” the memo stated.
The move is part of a broader effort by the Mahama-led administration to streamline government operations and ensure that public funds are allocated appropriately.
The Chief of Staff also assured institutions that any clarifications or concerns regarding the directive would be promptly addressed.
“The cooperation of all government institutions is described as pivotal in achieving the goals of this audit.”
It is aLeo expected that this payroll review will help eliminate potential discrepancies and improve the efficiency of public sector payroll systems.
