The acting Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ing. David Asamoah, announced that independent power producer Sunon Asogli will resume operations in the coming weeks. This comes as ECG addresses the financial challenges that led to the shutdown.
To resolve the $259 million debt owed to Sunon Asogli, ECG has shifted to a weekly payment schedule instead of the previous monthly structure. Payments began on October 8, 2024, with the goal of clearing outstanding debts to Sunon Asogli and other power producers.
