University of Cape Coast SRC supports Muslim community with donation

The University of Cape Coast Students’ Representative Council (UCC SRC), under the leadership of H.E. Abraham Norman Nortey, has extended its support to the UCC Muslim Community by donating essential food items at the Central Mosque on Friday, 7th March 2025—the first Friday of Ramadan.

The donation, which included bags of rice, almonds, fruits, beverages, and bags of water, was made to support Muslim students and staff as they observe the holy month of fasting and spiritual reflection.

Speaking at the event, SRC President H.E. Abraham Norman Nortey highlighted the importance of fostering unity and ensuring that all students feel valued and supported.

“Ramadan is a sacred time for our Muslim brothers and sisters, and as an SRC that prioritizes the welfare of all students, we find it necessary to show our support. This donation is a small way of expressing our solidarity and promoting harmony on campus,” he stated.

The President of the Ghana Muslim Students Association (GMSA) UCC, Mr. Kudus, expressed appreciation to the Norman-led SRC for the generous gesture, emphasizing how meaningful it was for Muslim students.

“We are grateful to the SRC for recognizing our needs and standing with us during this special period. This act of kindness goes a long way in strengthening the bonds of unity on campus,” he said.

Senior lecturers present at the event also commended the leadership of the SRC President, acknowledging the significance of such initiatives in fostering inclusivity and student engagement.

The Norman-led SRC remains committed to serving the diverse student body by implementing impactful programs that cater to the needs of all. This donation is a testament to their dedication to student welfare and community support.
