The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has dismissed recent reports suggesting plans to relocate its headquarters from Ghana to Nigeria due to financial constraints.
Allegations of Financial Strain
Media reports claimed that the Ghanaian government’s indebtedness to WAEC was causing operational challenges, allegedly sparking discussions about moving the headquarters from Accra to Nigeria.
WAEC’s Official Response
Addressing the claims, WAEC’s Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, categorically refuted the reports.
“There hasn’t been any discussion in this direction. The law that established WAEC indicates that the headquarters will be situated here in Accra. Ever since, there has not been any change to that,” Kapi clarified.
