We’ve planted 50m trees-president tells COP29

The president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the Azerbaijan COP 29 spoken of how his government has undertaken an initiative to plant some 50 million trees. While addressing World Climate Leaders Summit, the president said this is a strategic move to preserve nature.

Mr. Akufo-Addo was speaking in the topic of the conference which is Climate Change when he said his administration in the past few years initiated Green Ghana Day, and under that, continue to plant millions of seedlings annually aimed at maintaining green forests. According to the human rights lawyer, this is the country’s sure way of preserving the ecosystem.

He said “as a father and a grandfather, he’s concerned about the kind of future to leave behind for his children and grandchildren.”

With climate financing a central focus of COP29, President Akufo-Addo further stressed the importance of developed nations committing to financial support to accelerate the transition to green energy. With him, the time for dialogue in dealing with climate change is over. Real action, he said, is the way forward.

In a declaration, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said Ghana stand United with the rest of the world for a green resilient tomorrow.
